COOL MORNINGS & WARM SMILES
Not every engagement photoshoot starts with the sound of a rushing waterfall and the chill of a May morning breeze, but that’s exactly what greeted us at McConnells Mill with Mikayla and Owen. For late May, the air was surprisingly cool — the kind of morning that makes you want to wrap up in a cozy flannel and sip something warm. But these two? They showed up barefoot, smiling, and completely ready for an adventure.
From the moment we met in the parking lot, I knew it was going to be a fun one. Mikayla’s lavender dress flowed like it was made for the woods, and Owen’s chill, layered vibe made him look right at home by the water. We wandered down to the falls, laughing, chatting, and soaking in that early morning magic only the forest can give.

Wading Into the Moment
One of my favorite things about this engagement session was how willing Mikayla and Owen were to simply be — to wade barefoot into the creek, to follow prompts with open hearts and open minds, and to let the whole thing unfold naturally. There’s something really beautiful about that kind of trust, and it’s what allows those candid, emotional, and joy-filled images to come to life.
The way they looked at each other? Effortless. The way they laughed together? Constant. It felt less like posing and more like just pressing pause on a moment in their love story.
...A Perfectly Personal Kind of Session
When your engagement photo session feels like you — like your version of love — it shows. And this one? It was full of personal touches without needing anything overly planned or styled. Just two people in love, surrounded by trees and water, sharing the kind of quiet joy that speaks volumes.
I left this session feeling incredibly grateful to do what I do, and even more excited for Mikayla and Owen’s wedding day. If their engagement session was any clue, their celebration is going to be full of meaning, heart, and plenty of happy tears.
